This is Beanie A750728. SThis is the best Beanie Baby you could own. Beanie is a 3 year old 51lb. female Pit Bull who came to the shelter on 2/29/08 as a stray. This attractive lady has been no problem since coming to us. She gets along well with the other dogs and is very friendly toward people. She greets everyone who comes into the adoption ward and loves to get doggie biscuits and give kisses. She is truly a good girl who will make an excellent pet to the right people. Let’s find this lady a home…

This is Buster -A701309- a 1 year 9 month old 40 lb. neutered Staffordshire. Buster came to us on 2/14/08. His owner gave him up stating he was too hyper for the family. Buster is somewhat high energy but he only needs to be properly trained. He is housebroken and gets along fine with the dogs in the shelter. Buster is not impossible. He does sit when commanded to. I was able to photograph him with no problem. He is a happy pup that needs to run off his puppy energy. Buster can’t release his energy here so we really need to find Buster a home. He would make a great family dog to any one willing to give him the little training he needs. Buster is waiting!!!!!

This is Taffy A49615. This old girl is a special girl with a sad story. Taffy is a 7 year old spayed 71 lb. Pit Bull. She came to us on 2/20/08 as a stray but she does have a story. Taffy was found in an apartment where the occupant was deceased. She was taken in by neighbors who held her a few days and then brought her to the shelter. Taffy was on the list to be euthanized and was pulled off and brought over to the Staten Island shelter. She is a gentle girl who needs a second chance. She obviously is meant to be here and we need to find a perfect place for this perfect gal. Taffy has not been a problem since she has been here and only wants a place to call home. Taffy is waiting for your call!!!

Meet Tom, affectionately known as “tom-tom” here at the shelter. This little guy is one sweet cookie. At only 45 pounds and already two years old, the biggest thing about this mush is his need for lots of love and attention! As much as we all adore him, let’s face it – the shelter is no place for a love like this. So please if anyone is interested contact us immediately! Tom is scheduled to be neutered, and on his way to knowing his commands - “sit-stay, etc”. He’s been safer tested and this is what they had to say:

Hey there Charlie girl, say “hello” to all the nice people reading this email! Everyone – meet Charlie, our 2 year old, 50 pound pit mix lady in need of a forever home. This striking gal has been bounced between the shelter system a few times but there hasn’t been anyone that she’s come across yet that isn’t impressed with her! One of our volunteers had this to say -
If you described your ideal dog, would it include the words "affectionate," "playful," "gentle," and "friendly with other dogs"? Well, these words and many more good ones describe Charlie. She is a 2-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. Did we mention "mild-mannered" and "easy to lead"? Definitely, we should have included "smart" because Charlie is already trained, at least she can obey her first big command. She sits promptly when told to sit, which is very unusual for strays. With a little effort and a lot of treats, you could teach her many more commands and tricks. So what are you waiting for? You need to come and adopt your ideal companion -- Charlie -- today, now! Then, you would discover more wonderful words for her.
Don’t pretend you aren’t impressed with that glowing review, and if that wasn’t enough for you, she’s also been safer tested and this is what they had to add:

This is CARAMEL - A750023. Who doesn’t love caramel? It’s sticky and delicious and has a way of getting all over you, just like our two year old pit bull of the same name will! This is Caramel, our chunky little lady with the big smile and even bigger heart. I know she’s rough looking but we promise there’s a soft center here just looking for someone to stick to! Caramel is easy to please, a couple of kisses and this big baby is on her back, belly up and squirming happily. While we don’t know if she has any cat experience, she has been safer tested and this is what they had to say:
